Later that same evening

I love all these wine glasses on the table, it suggests some sort of celebration, but you're not sure what. A lovely still life before it gets populated with people, plates, bottles and noise.

Stencilling onto a pallet

The design and the application. The stencil uses a section of our bathroom floor stencil design since these elements will be in close proximity to one another.
I wanted it to look like an old piece of stencilling that was discovered, discarded in the back of the garage. Watch out next week to see what happens to the pallet, and how we turn it into a side board or something similar.

Home improvements

So, we have had enough of taking furniture out onto the patio and in again. This weekend we had a roof put in over the patio. Just clear, smokey perspex panels so that the light still gets into the house. It really looks great. We left the section open where the creepers are so they will still get delicious rain water. Our plan is to buy some new furniture but right now we're just happy to have this space and we've already enjoyed a glass of wine out there and a breakfast.

Inkwell Project 2

I did some more drawings for Inkwell. His and Hers mugs. Sugar bowls. Plates. Remember the market is this Sunday.
Copied this from Inkwell's facebook post: Don't forget to come to the Norwood pop up market on Sunday! It's our very first market and it's going to be awesome! Thanks The Pop-Up Market ‪#‎lovenorwood‬

Picnic spot

This was our picnic spot. Lovely. Calm, relaxing. A great afternoon with friends.

Menu for the picnic

Cheese puffs. Couscous salad - couscous (duh;-), butternut, capers, spring onion, broccoli, sun-dried tomatoes, feta, pine nuts, garlic and chilli, drizzled with fresh lemon juice. Bean salad - green beans, yellow and red peppers, tomatoes, olives, red onion, garlic and chilli. Olive oil and white balsamic vinegar dressing. Picnic terrine - hollowed out rye bread spread with basil pesto and filled with mozzarella cheese, roasted brinjal, roasted red peppers, rocket, cucumber, hard-boiled eggs. Put the lid back on the bread and weight down with a brick or tile so all the ingredients settle nicely in the bread, then when you cut it it doesn't fall apart. Fruit salad - pineapple, mango, nectarine, peach, black currant,  kiwi and granadilla, with a generous amount of fresh-squeezed orange juice. Sit down and enjoy. Yum.

Visiting Shakar at Eaton Farm

Windmill on Main

I have been driving past this place for years, and it just looked like a place that sold pies and some farm vegetables. But there were always so many cars parked so we decided to go have a look.See how charming it is, so beautiful. Had a lovely breakfast.

I just flashed the police

I pulled up next to a JMPD, Johannesburg Metro Police Department, vehicle and decided to flash them my 'Have a great day' sign. Their faces lit up, they laughed and smiled, my work is done ;-)
So everyone, have a great Friday!

Road trip

When you're at the end of a dirt road the idea of a road trip is so delightful. Not today, but soon.

The amazing maize maze isn't open yet

The amazing maize maze only opens early next month but we did the other maze. You walk through and have to find 5 different gardens. Argh! We returned to the one garden 6 times but were determined to find them all.

Inkwell project

Exciting news! My friend is selling her one-of-a-kind, hand-illustrated mugs, tea cups and ceramic things! Come through to Norwood Day Pop Up Market on the 15th Feb.

She asked me to do a set of cups and saucers but I don't think my stuff is quite up to her standards ;-) I'll be at the market buying back my own designs if no one else does. Please support her, look out for INKWELL at the market.

Reitfontein Nature Reserve

A short little hike through the Reitfontein Nature Reserve before breakfast on Saturday morning. We saw the buck and he saw us ;-)
